Founded in 2002 by Sunshine Coast local Maria Zauner, Suncoast Podiatry is the leading group of Podiatry practice on the Sunshine Coast, providing the highest level of professional Podiatry care in state-of-the-art facilities.

Suncoast Podiatry specialises in the biomechanical assessment and correction of lower limb pain and gait disorders for patients of all ages, from babies to the elderly.

Owner & founder

Maria

With over 20 years’ experience, owner & founder Maria continues to provide the Sunshine Coast with professional and innovative care. Maria strives to introduce the latest technology across all of our clinics from Lunula Laser technology for fungal nails, Shockwave therapy for lower limb rehabilitation and 3D scanning for custom-made orthotics.

Maria has comprehensive experience in podiatry and enjoys all aspects from biomechanics, in grown toe nails, sports injuries and general nail care. Maria specialises in diabetic education and treatment priding herself in assisting patients with diabetes to gain the knowledge and confidence to self manage their condition.

Sam

Sam has over 17 years’ experience in podiatry and has recently relocated from Surry Hills NSW. He has extensive experience in private practice.

Sam has a keen interest in treating lower limb and foot complaints with a biomechanical focus specialising in custom-made orthotics and gait analysis.

Since moving Sam has been making the most of the warmer weather hitting the beach for a surf, swimming and Pilates.

Since graduating from QUT in 2009 Mark has developed his skills with a range of clinical experience including diabetic high risk feet, sports injuries, paediatrics as well as general care. His diverse background and skill set offers you a go-to for all your foot needs.

When not at work you’ll often find him on the soccer field or at the beach.

My name is Abbas (Ben), and I’m a passionate podiatrist dedicated to educating and taking care of people’s feet. With a background in both martial arts and visual arts, I bring a unique perspective to my work, blending precision and creativity in my approach to foot health.

I’m also deeply involved in pioneering research on biomechanics and creating podiatry medical devices to improve the lives of my patients. Being bilingual in English and Persian (Farsi), I love connecting with people from all walks of life and delivering holistic care that taps into the body’s natural ability to heal.

For me, the human foot is like a second heart, when it’s in pain, it can signal deeper issues. My goal is to address those concerns comprehensively and ensure your feet stay healthy and happy.

Our friendly reception staff are available to assist you with all booking, billing and administrative queries.

Home Visits

Home Visits are paid by cash or pre-paid by credit card. These are private health relatable.

HICAPS is located on-site for immediate private health rebates. Insurance and OH&S (Occupational Health & Safety) claims will be considered on an individual basis.

DVA

The Department of Veterans Affairs allows some individuals to have access to ongoing podiatry care at no cost to the individual if they have a Repatriation Health Card.

At Suncoast Podiatry, we provide routine maintenance, physical therapy, biomechanical evaluation, footwear prescription and modification, as well as most of our other services to clients covered by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

If you have a Repatriation Health Card For All Conditions (Gold Card), the Department of Veterans Affairs will pay for podiatry services that are available through the DVA scheme. If you have a Repatriation Health Card For Specific Conditions (White Card), the Department of Veterans Affairs will pay for podiatry services that are required because of an approved war or service-related injury or disease. If a white card has been issued for

  • Malignant Neoplasia (cancer)
  • Pulmonary Tuberculosis
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Anxiety and/or Depression, whether service-caused or not

Prior to treatment, you will need a current DVA referral (D904) from your General Practitioner to see the podiatrist. This needs to be brought into the clinic, or the treatment cannot be claimed, and full payment will need to be made. A DVA referral from your GP is valid for 1 year and can be renewed annually.

Medicare

At Suncoast Podiatry, we provide treatment to patients referred by their GP through an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) or Complex Disease Management Plan (CDMP). If you have a current care plan, you can receive a rebate from Medicare for up to 5 visits to Allied Health Professionals per year. Our appointment fee is $71, but after we process your Medicare rebate, you will only need to pay $13 out of pocket.

To be eligible for the Complex Disease Management Plan, your General Practitioner must assist you in managing chronic medical conditions such as

  • Arthritis
  • Asthma
  • Diabetes
  • Cancer
  • Heart Disease
  • Mental Health Illness
